i had such a wonderful happy time with this guy and his family. i was feeling sick, he did the best job taking care of me, getting cough drops, soup, blankets, tissues...

we made her a cake/breakfast and gave her some gifts this morning. since, we've been playing just dance and big buck hunter on wii and just being lazy. my mother is so selfless and full of love. tonite, some family will come over and we'll have a steak dinner. happy day to all you special mothers out there!
we are driving north for the weekend and staying with his family. i can hardly wait!
i have been learning so much these past few weeks. experiencing God with kenny is one the most amazing things. learning a lot on forgiveness. putting others first, trying hard not to be selfish. i am filled with hope; i am so excited about my future. finally, things feel like they are coming together, sort of like a puzzle... feel like i've been given all the pieces and just now i am learning where they go and how they fit to form something beautiful. i am really enjoying and grateful for the life God has given me.
hope you all have a wonderful weekend! x
p.s. a few of my best friends return home next week, from college (woooo!).
01. what started as a wild goose chase for some frozen yogurt ended in a trip to the grocery. we bought two angel food cakes, raspberries + blueberries, a bread bowl and spinach dip... for three (...three!) of us.
02/03. friday nite kenny and i grilled burgers on the grill and baked homemade oven fries. i have a feeling many more nites like this are to come this summer; i reckon it's my favorite meal. and what's better than enjoying your favorite meal with your favorite person, y'know?
04/05/06. sunday afternoon my dad and brother and i went for a little bike ride after eating a humungous and delicious breakfast. brother even wore his biking shirt. ;)
07/08. i've updated, finally, a currant photo under my 'hello' tab, to the left of this post.
01. for your feet, beautiful boots made in marfa, TX, cobra rock boot co. while boot season is coming to an end, the wait-list is 10 mo. for a pair! (and near $500....)
02. for your saturday picnics, marguerite dress/ wiksten.
03. for your tea+toast, a local farm's honey.
04. for your ears, pat metheny group (i grew up listening to this album).
05. for the farmer in you, plough & stars blog.
been busy as a bee this morning... spring cleaning, planting and potting. i am finding myself dreaming of camping, hiking, kayaking and swimming lately. i think a weekend of said activities is in order. (perhaps a family trip to the lake). also, the spring breeze gliding in through all our windows is oh so refreshing!
kinfolk recently put together their 'sounds of spring' playlist this week and i'd just like to share it with you, too. so go ahead, and have a listen! my preferred method of streaming music is most certainly rdio.
as often as i say i can't wait to leave this city and live elsewhere (i'm looking at you, tennessee/washington/oregon) spending the day in the city made me realize how much i do like this place. partly because the memories i've made here are so special. rarely do we both have the same day off work, so monday was such a treat!
on our first date we sat beside this boat talking for hours. don't reckon what we talked about for all that time....but his napoleon dynamite impressions near won my heart that nite (an embarrassing past favorite movie of mine) and also remember feeling that i wanted to give him a big old mess of hugs.
elephant ears and wave swings at navy pier. those swings, i tell ya.... oh you haven't lived until you've been on that ride (though they're completely overpriced).
and.... later in the day we met up with kenny's roommate, at the corner of lake and state street, to be exact. those two make me laugh. we all rode the train back to my house and ate chips and salsa while dranking pepsi and jarritos. :)
friday (babysitting) we enjoyed this beautiful weather all day long. we rode our bikes to the park and afterwards went on a nature walk. in a wagon we collected sticks, leaves, and flowers, to press.
saturday, i woke and went for a run, did yoga with maeve, and went rock climbing with my brother and dad.
sunday, i tried so very hard not spend all my pennies at world market; i love that place. i bought that rug in the last photo, along with some wind chimes, a few outdoor glass lanterns, and a mother's day gift for my mama.
hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
a few more photos from my time in dallas last week. i ate the world's best chicken pesto panani, dang, it was the perfect meal (i'd been munching on airplane snacks all morning). i especially enjoyed the frozen yogurt we got for the drive back to waco. i am so grateful for the time i was able to spend with elle and for the opportunity to explore a few new cities!
record shop, pet shop, and plant shop! all in an afternoon. i love additions to this plant family of mine- see the cacti in the green pots? they were gifts from my dad this past christmas- perhaps they're my favorite two.
i am enjoying everything about spring thus far. re-opening of windows. garden planning. picnics. day dates. discovering new paths in the forest. life is so wonderful!
